If you somehow ended up as President of the United States, what would be your first move? Would you focus on ending the worldwide food crisis? Make a point of stabilizing and lowering gas prices? Focus on affordable health care for all? Or how about turning the immaculate green of the White House lawn into a veggie garden?
Well, the vast majority of us won't be stepping into the Oval Office this November. But that doesn't mean we can't pass along a few helpful hints to our next elected official:
On Day One, a new website created by the
Better World Fund, is dedicated to providing an outlet for suggestions for the next administration to help make our country a better place to live. The site features suggestions from dozens of well-known politicians, celebrities, authors, thinkers, and ordinary people, which can be voted and commented on by the community.
The site contains hundreds of unique and innovative ideas for the future President to consider - one visitor suggests creating a national "Academy of Peace" to professionally train peace negotiators and mediators, as a counterpoint to military academies like West Point. The aforementioned veggie garden idea was so popular that it's since spawned its very own website,
Eat the View, which is dedicated to promoting sustainable food gardens in high-visibility locations (i.e. the White House), to serve as an example for ordinary people.
Have an idea or two for the next President's first act in office?
Visit the site and speak your mind. You never know who might be reading.
