Gimundo Is Launching Small Business Advertising Slots

Since my husband Jeff and I purchased Gimundo from my previous employer last year, it’s been growing far more quickly than we ever imagined. While we are thrilled to see how popular the site has become, as our traffic increases, so do our costs. Each month, we pay for our server, web hosting, newsletter provider service, and the various other necessities that go into bringing you good news and inspiration every day.

We never intend on charging readers a fee for the service we provide, so instead, we rely on advertising to pay our bills. We’ve received many inquiries from small businesses asking about advertising on our site, and until now, we haven’t had a suitable option. The two top banner ads on the site are sold through a third party ad server, and are generally purchased by large brands. But as a husband-and-wife team, we’ve got a soft spot for other small businesses, and want to give them a great outlet to promote their products. So we’re happy to announce that we’re opening up our site to allow entrepreneurs to spotlight their products to a huge audience at a very affordable introductory rate.

Gimundo is a family-friendly site focused on the positive, and so we are careful to ensure that all merchants advertising on our site fit our high standards of ethics. We will not accept ads from businesses tied to pornography, pyramid marketing, or anything else that makes us say “ick.” We encourage artisans with Etsy shops or their own online stores, authors, and other small business owners to contact us for inclusion in our sponsored ads section.

Our introductory rate for a 125 x 125 pixel button on the sidebar of every page is a $1.00 CPM, or $100 per 100,000 impressions. If you’re not familiar with online advertising, that means that you’ll pay $100 for every 100,000 times your ad is viewed. We also offer our premium lower sidebar ad (300 x 250 pixels) for $3.50 CPM, and our 468 x 60 pixel footer ad for $2.50 CPM.

You can also sponsor the email newsletter separately at a rate of $75 a day (daily newsletter only) or $250 a week (5 daily emails a week, plus Monday’s weekly newsletter). Newsletter sponsors will be held to the same high ethical standards as our site sponsors, and will be able to include a short text message at the top of the email (75 words or less) along with a footer display ad (468 x 60).

These rates do not include ad design, but we may be able to design a custom ad for an additional fee if necessary.
