Alice Pyne’s “Bucket List” Inspires Thousands
Alice Pyne, a 15-year-old girl with cancer, has made a list of everything she wants to do before she dies that's inspired people all over the world.http://www.marrow.org/JOIN/index.html
Alice Pyne, 15, has been fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma for four years—but she’s recently found out that the cancer has spread, and she only has a short amount of time left. Instead of sinking down into depression, though, the teenage girl from Cumbria, England, has dedicated herself to enjoying what time she has on Earth. Earlier this week, she created a blog with a “bucket list” of all the things she’d like to do before she passes away, with requests such as meeting the band Take That, eating chocolate at Cadbury World, and “to make everyone sign up to be a bone marrow donor.”
‘My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do,” she wrote. “You only have one life ... live it!’
Alice never thought that anyone but a few friends and family members would see the list, but in the last couple of days, her blog has become an Internet sensation—and people around the world are helping her to fulfill the items on the list. She’s planning to see a Take That show this weekend and meet the band, “Alice’s bucket list” was a trending topic on Twitter, and most importantly, thousands of people are joining the bone marrow donation registry so that they can save the lives of other people with cancer.
Alice has received thousands of email messages from all over the world in response to her blog. “I didn’t sleep very well and I sat up all night reading them as they came in from all over the planet, every single one, and they have made me smile so much so that is a good thing,”
Check out her whole bucket list here.
