Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Wyclef Jean, and Other Celebs Donate Millions for Haiti Earthquake Relief
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Lance Armstrong, Wyclef Jean, and the New York Yankees are just a few of the celebrities giving millions to support the relief effort for the Haiti earthquake.
While the news out of Haiti is still looking pretty awful, the generosity of people around the world has been overwhelming—and many celebrities are using their platforms for good.
Haitian musician Wyclef Jean (previously of The Fugees) has been working to raise money for relief funds for the Haitian earthquake through his charity, Yéle Haiti, and has already received more than $750,000 in donations. (Click here to find out how to give.)
Cyclist Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation has pledged $250,000 to two non-profit groups working in Haiti, Partners in Health and Doctors without Borders.
The New York Yankees baseball team is stepping in with a large contribution to Haitian relief efforts, donating $5000,000 to charities working on the ground to help victims of the quake.
And Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have pledged to donate $1 million from their Jolie-Pitt Foundation to Doctors without Borders to support their emergency medical relief efforts. “It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades,” Jolie said in a statement.
Even if you’re not rich and famous, there’s still plenty that you can do to help support relief efforts for the Haiti earthquake. For tips on how you can contribute, click here.
