Dog Rescues Abandoned Baby
Last week in Argentina, a dog saved the life of an abandoned baby, picking him up and taking him to her own den.
Last week, when a fourteen-year old Argentinean girl gave birth to a baby boy in a shantytown near Buenos Aires, the frightened young mother abandoned her infant, leaving the child in a field.
The tale could have easily ended in tragedy - if not for the remarkable act of La China, an eight-year-old dog that happened to come across the abandoned baby boy. Recognizing that the infant needed help and would die in the cold if left alone, the dog gently picked up the baby and carried him in her mouth back to her own den, where her own puppies were waiting.
Soon, hearing a strange cry that didn’t sound quite like a dog’s bark, La China’s owner came over to investigate, and discovered the baby, safe and warm beneath a rag.
BBC News reports that the infant child has a few minor injuries, but La China had been gentle - not a single bite mark was found on his body. Argentinean authorities are currently looking after the child, trying to determine a proper placement for the baby to make sure that he is safe. La China would probably make a perfect adoptive mom, judging by her heroic actions - but she might have a little trouble picking the baby up in her mouth for much longer.
Here’s hoping for a happy future for the baby boy - and a nice, juicy piece of steak for La China.
