New Mobile App iZup Blocks Texting While Driving
A new mobile app can prevent texting while driving.
Everyone gets distracted while driving every so often, whether it’s to change the station on the radio or to glance at your TomTom when you’re not sure where you are. But distractions can be dangerous, and the more technology we have around, the more distracted we become. The worst offender? Our cell phones’ SMS messaging systems. A recent study found that people who text while driving are 23 times more likely to be involved in a crash than non-texters.
If your child or someone you care about is a frequent texter, you’re right to be concerned. But a new free app available on a variety of mobile phone platforms will now allow you to block your loved one from texting, tweeting, and emailing while his car’s in motion. The app, iZup Lite, uses a GPS signal to determine the user’s speed, automatically shutting down text communications functions once the user reaches driving speed.
If you’re worried about your child talking on his cell phone while driving, you can block that too: Just upgrade to the $20-a-year paid version. It’s a small price to pay to ensure that your loved ones always stay safe on the road.
