Simple Ways to Help Victims of the Earthquake in Japan
Here are some simple ways to help survivors of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
On Friday, Japan was hit by an 8.9 earthquake and a tsunami, causing thousands of deaths and widespread devastation. To get through this natural disaster with minimum damage, the country needs to rely on the kindness and generosity of others. Here are a few simple ways you can help.
Text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross’ relief efforts in Japan through your phone. If you’d prefer to donate online, visit redcross.org.
Make a donation to GlobalGiving’s Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund, which will distribute funds to a variety of organizations working to help the victims of the earthquake.
Shelterbox, which provides survival materials like tents and cooking equipment to disaster areas, is sending relief boxes to Japan. Make a donation to fund their efforts.
Save the Children is focusing on helping children who survived the earthquake, who may be orphaned or injured. Make a donation by visiting their site or sending the text message “JAPAN” to 20222 to donate $10.
CARE provides humanitarian relief to countries all over the world. Their Asian staff is now working to provide needed relief services throughout the areas of Japan affected by the earthquake. To help them fund efforts in Japan, make an online donation.
