Teen Lui Shi Ching Has Carried Best Friend on Back for Eight Years
Because his best friend Lu Shao has a disability that makes it difficult to walk, Lui Shi Ching has carried him to and from school every day for eight years.
Hopefully, you feel like your friends have your back when you need it—but how many of them would give you a piggyback ride?
Lu Shao, a teenager from Hebei, China, has a true friend in Lui Shi Ching. Lu Shao has a genetic disorder that makes walking difficult for him. As a young child, Lu Shao would wait for his mother to pick him up from school, but one day, she wasn’t able to make it, and Lui Shi Ching offered him a ride home—on his own back.
Ever since, he has carried his best friend to and from school, and even helped him get around the school hallways. Nowadays, Lu Shao is much heavier than he was as an eight-year-old, but Lui Shi Ching says that carrying his weight is no burden.
“How did I carry him when he’s so heavy? I was happy helping him out and it’s been 8 years already,” he told the International Business Times.
The humble teen has never bragged about his daily good deed: It took four years for his parents to find out about his act of kindness. As for Lu Shao, his friend’s generosity has helped him find his own happiness: He wrote in his diary that Lui Shi Ching’s assistance had lifted a dark cloud and let sunshine into his life.
We should all be so lucky to have a friend like that.
