The best storytellers, in our experience, are always children. Their imaginations are in full bloom, and they aren’t afraid of bizarre tangents or incredible plot twists. (This little French girl’s got an epic tale for you, if you have a few minutes to spare.)

We also have a soft spot for comic books. Remember how much fun it was to sit down with a new issue of Spiderman and find out how he would use his Spidey Sense to defeat a new enemy? If you’ve still got a stash of superhero comics under your bed, we can’t say we blame you.

Now, we’ve discovered Axe Cop, a site that pulls together the best of both worlds, combining a child’s imagination with beautiful graphic stylings. The site is a creative collaboration between artist Ethan Nicolle and his five-year-old brother, Malachai. Just this past Christmas, when Ethan went to visit his family, he realized that his little bro had a fantastic imagination, and had created a superhero by the name of “Axe Cop” and his sidekick, “Flute Cop” (whose weapon of choice is, yes, a flute). Ethan got to work illustrating Malachai’s epic fantasies, and a unique new superhero comic series was born.

As you might expect from the mind of a five-year-old, there’s a fair bit of head-chopping and explosions, but don’t worry—no one gets hurt except the bad guys. To read the latest adventures of Axe Cop and his buddies, and even ask the superhero police officer a question of your own, visit the site.

In this video, Ethan and Malachai demonstrate their creative process. Check it out!
