Who needs bikes? Skateboards are providing an awesome outlet for the girls of Skateistan.

Girls on bikes in Afghanistan is considered offensive and taboo, but while bicycles aren’t allowed no one ever said anything about skateboards. Skateistan, a non-profit working to empower poor and embattled youth in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa, has recently opened up their newest skate school in Mazar-e-Sharif. Whether the larger takeaway for these students is autonomy and athleticism, empowerment against a repressive system, or simply knowing that somebody cares, for right now these girls are having fun and demonstrating some pretty sick skills
