Boy Saves Dad’s Life after Car Crash

We all know that most parents will do anything to protect their beloved offspring. But sometimes, the reverse is true as well.

We all know that most parents will do anything to protect their beloved offspring. But sometimes, the reverse is true as well.

Last week, when Matthew Nally crashed his car in the bushland of South Australia, he lost consciousness and stopped breathing. Lucky for him, his 11-year-old son, Lochie, hadn’t been injured – and the courageous boy knew exactly how to help.

Immediately, Lochie started pumping his father’s chest and gave him CPR. Within seconds, Michael was breathing again on his own.

The car had crashed in the middle of the night, on a remote stretch of road, and Lochie knew that if he had to wait for hours for help to come, his father might not survive. So the boy squeezed through the toppled car’s window, and ran barefoot for nearly 2 miles along the pitch-black road, stopping in at the nearest pub to tell the owner about the accident.

Michael Nally is still in serious condition at a local hospital, but thanks to Lochie’s help, it seems likely he’ll pull through.

Police inspector Graham Goodwin, who is investigating the accident, told The Herald Sun that Lochie’s rescue effort was “one of the most heroic acts I’ve seen.”

And of course, Lochie’s mother, Kim March, is beaming with pride over her young son’s brave act: “I told him he’s saved his dad’s life . . . I am just ecstatic. He did a fantastic job.”
