Little Picasso: Kieron Williamson, 7, Is Painting Prodigy

7-year-old Kieron Williamson is a painting prodigy who sells his work for thousands of dollars.

If you have kids, you’ve probably kept their crayon drawings on the wall for years. But even though you treasure their artwork, let’s be honest: it’s probably not the sort of thing that would inspire a bidding war.

That is, unless your child is 7-year-old Kieron Williamson of Holt, England. Kieron only began painting two years ago, thanks to art lessons from a family friend—and once he started, it soon became clear that his works were a world away from most kindergarteners’ stick figures and scribbles.

Kieron, who paints watercolors of landscape, animals, and landmarks, has a sophisticated eye for shadows and perspective. His paintings seem like the work of a mature artist, and wouldn’t be out of place in any gallery.

Unsurprisingly, galleries and individuals alike are chomping at the bit to purchase Kieron’s artworks. Picturecraft Gallery is planning an exhibition of Kieron’s paintings this August, and he recently sold 16 paintings for over $32,000 in less than 15 minutes.

For Kieron, painting isn’t about the money, though. It’s just a simple pleasure.

“‘I like painting because it’s fun and inspiring. It makes me think of places I can’t see,” he told the Daily Mail.

Kieron’s favorite painter is landscape artist Edward Seago, and he plans to purchase one of Seago’s original artworks with some of his earnings. His parents will invest the rest of his money in a fund until he is 25.
