Lotto Winner Mike Barth Wins $28.9 Million for Being Nice

Mike Barth didn't make a fuss when someone cut in front of him to buy a lotto ticket -- and now, he's almost $29 million richer as a result.

What would you do if someone cut in front of you in line at a store? Would you give him a piece of your mind, or would you just shrug it off and not let it ruin your day?

If you chose Option B, then you might have won $28.9 million. That’s what happened to Mike Barth, a New York City resident who was standing in line at a convenience store to buy a lottery ticket for himself and five co-workers at the state Division of Housing and Community Renewal. When an unidentified man rudely forced his way in front of Barth, “I thought about saying something but decided to just let it slide,” he told the New York Post.

Good thing he let it go—if he hadn’t let the man cut in front of him, he wouldn’t have purchased the winning ticket. Now, he and his lucky co-workers are splitting a jackpot of $319 million, while the line-cutter walked away empty-handed. Sometimes, it really does pay to be the good guy.
