Under an ingenious new program first introduced in Florida last year, 58 county jails around New York are being supplied with 7,200 decks of playing cards. But the card decks aren’t just for seven-card stud: Each card sports the face of a missing person, along with phone numbers for tip lines that offer rewards if the missing people are found.
The program was funded by a $10,000 grant from state Senator Joseph Bruno, who said in a statement that “this program seeks to go right to the source of crime, providing incarcerated criminals information via playing cards who, in turn, may have credible information or leads that help solve these crimes.”
It gives another meaning to “Go Fish,” doesn’t it?
