Last week, a thief snuck back into a couple's house to return momentos from their deceased daughter.
Last month, English couple Clive and Patricia Wilson discovered that theives had broken into their house while they were out. They stole some of Patricia’s jewelry, but worse, they’d taken the travel journal that had belonged to the Wilsons’ daughter, Lisa, who died in a car accident in the Australian outback in 2002.
The Wilsons were devastated by the loss of Lisa’s journal and the other momentos that had once belonged to her. They called the police to report the robbery, but there were no leads. The couple believed that the precious reminders of their beloved daughter were gone forever.
“Lisa’s journal was irreplaceable, it was full of her words and she will never be able to say anything to us again,” Clive Wilson told the Daily Telegraph.
In fact, Lisa had written in the journal during her ill-fated trip to Australia in 2002—so the journal contained the last words that her family would ever receive from her.
Though most thieves don’t think twice about what they take, the Wilson’s robbers must have realized that they were in possession of something special. Last week, while the couple was out at a Christmas party, a thief snuck back into their house—not to steal more of their possessions, but to return the momentos of their daughter’s life.
Now, the journal and Lisa’s other possessions are safely back in her parents’ hands.
“This is the best Christmas present,” said Clive Wilson.
