Woman Uses Skills Learned on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ to Save Life

When Margot Hines came across a woman who'd just been stabbed near her house, she knew just how to help - thanks to Dr. McDreamy.

On May 20th, when Margot Hines came across a woman who’d just been stabbed in a random attack lying on the sidewalk near her house, she knew just how to help.

“She was gushing blood, and the first thing I thought was to put pressure on the wound and keep her calm,” the Toronto woman told The Globe and Mail. Hines’ quick thinking kept the woman alive while waiting for the paramedics to arrive.

Hines doesn’t have much in the way of medical training, but she relied on her first-aid training from summer camp as a child, and especially her many hours of watching Grey’s Anatomy, to teach her what to do.

“I know a little bit about first aid, and I hoped and prayed to God that I was doing the right thing,” she said.

The injured woman is now in stable condition, thanks to Hines’ hard work (with a little credit to Dr. McDreamy, of course).
